Story of the Week
I grew up playing organized baseball and played the first two years of high school. During my sophomore year, I took a golf and tennis class. I developed some golf knowledge, skills, and interest from the class. Within days of starting summer vacation, a friend asked me to go play with him and because of that invitation, golf became a career for me. When he and I went to play that day, we met the general manager of the course and he offered us jobs picking up on the driving range. Although I was not looking for a job, it sounded like fun. My friend and I had a great summer filled will countless holes of golf. I ended up playing golf my final two years of high school and ended up working at that course through my completion of high school, a bachelor’s degree, and even the start of an MBA. Today, I continue to carry the lessons that I learned at my first job in my life, golf and career.
Golf has opened doors in my life creating treasured relationships and experiences. Since that first job, I have worked at a number of clubs and given thousands of golf lessons. I have met, played golf with, and given lessons to interesting and highly accomplished people, including professional athletes, celebrities and leaders of industry. I have played incredible golf courses around the United States. I have traveled on private planes to attend the US Open and I have been to the Masters twice. Golf, the game and industry, has shaped my life in ways that I cannot describe. It is such a joy for me to be able to help others learn the game and its lessons.
